Gen V season 2 is on its way, but let’s be honest; it’s travelling a bumpy road right now. Thedeath of star Chance Perdomomeant The Boys spin-off delayed filming before it ultimately reached the decision tocontinue with the showwithout recasting Perdomo’s character, Andre.

Gen V season 2 release date speculation

There is no official Gen V season 2 release date yet. Production on the series wasdue to begin in late March/early Aprilbut was delayed to May, following Chance Perdomo’s death. However, it seems like filming started again on July 16, thanks to acryptic post of Xfrom the Gen V account writing: “Class is in session”.

Before Perdomo’s death, we would have expected the actor to join Jaz Sinclair (Marie), Derek Luh/London Thor (Jordan), Lizze Broadway (Emma), Maddie Phillips (Cate) and Asa Germann (Sam) as part of the Gen V season 2 cast alongside potential cameos from the wider universe of The Boys.

Since then, Prime Video has confirmed that Andre Anderson won’t be recast.

“As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory,“a statement released on social media reads. “We won’t be recasting the role because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”

Those who won’t be returning after the explosiveGen V season 1 endinginclude Marco Pigossi (Dr. Edison Cardosa), Dean Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn), and Professor Richard Brinkerhoff (Clancy Brown). That could also be the case for Luke Riordan, aka Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger), though he frequently pops up throughout season 1 by way of flashback and, in episode 8, as a manifestation of Sam’s guilt. Because of all that, we’d say he’s a shoo-in for a season 2 appearance, too.

A new star joining the cast is Hamish Linklater, who will play the character Cipher (very exciting, we know). Chance Crawford will also appear as The Deep in the new season. We’d also speculate that The Boys characters Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) and Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) will return, given that their cameos turned into more plot-significant roles towards the end of season 1.

Another The Boys actor has expressed interest in joining the spin-off, too. “I’ve already talked to [Eric] Kripke about it,“Kimiko actor Karen Fukuhara told The Direct. “I don’t know how, but I think Frenchie and Kimiko need to make an appearance somehow. I mean, they must be on a mission somewhere in that world, right?”

Gen V season 1 ends on a massive cliffhanger, with Cate and Sam unexpectedly turning the whole world, or at least Godolkin University, upside down. After liberating The Woods, Cate and Sam lead the formerly imprisoned Supes on a killing spree throughout campus. Marie and co. are tasked with stopping them and almost succeed until Homelander shows up and subdues Marie with a laser blast.

We learn that a global news broadcast painted Marie, Emma, Jordan, and Andre as the campus killers and Cate and Sam as the real heroes – something that Cate likely conjured up with her super-strong manipulation powers. It’s all very familiar to The Boys season 4, to be honest, meaning that an obvious crossover is coming.

In fact, showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed that Gen V season 2 will take place directlyafter the events of The Boys season 4.The Boys' season 4 endinghad many revelations, such as Butcher running off with the Supe killing virus and Martial Law being declared. So we are curious to see how Gen V season 2 helps build on the world beforeThe Boys' season 5releases. We’ll keep you posted as more details head our way!
