PerThe Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has also opted to scrub the ‘Dead Reckoning Part Two’ part of the movie’s title, with a new title expected to be announced at a later date. The reason for the title change is unclear, but it might be relevant to note thatMission Impossible 7, titled Dead Reckoning Part One, failed to perform at the box office this year. It’s been estimated byVarietythat the movie failed to turn a profit in ticket sales.

As for the delay, it likely can be attributed at least in part to theSAG-AFTRA strikewhich recently surpassed 100 days.

Mission Impossible 8 will yet again star Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. Other cast members expected to return for the sequel include Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Kirby.
