Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have detailed the first year of post-launch updates and new content for Space Marine 2 in this newoverview videoand in aprevious news post. New content is going to be released via what seems to be a fairly loose seasonal model, but most importantly, you won’t have to pay for any of the gameplay features, such as new missions, modes, and weapons –these are free to all players. The only premium items are the cosmetic packs that make up the Season Pass, which are purely forSpace Marine 2 customization, and there are no battle passes or similar premium reward packs.
Although, it sounds like the new features mentioned in the roadmap will be released throughout the relevant season rather than all at once. Furthermore, there are a lot of vague and unexplained points on the roadmap, namely when each season begins and ends, but I’ve tried to explain and analyse where possible so you can understand what to expect, though bear in mind that this is all subject to change.
Saber will also be releasing patches and fixes alongside these updates to add quality-of-life changes and other improvements, and they’ve already explained what some of their priorities are now that the game is out in thisQ&A article: things like improving AI bots, tweaking campaign and Operations difficulties, fixing matchmaking, and rebalancing PVP. However, the developer is not budging on issues such as adding FOV sliders, shoulder-swapping, and the lack of invincibility during Gun Strikes.
Season 1 – a short introductory season focused mainly on fixes after the launch of the game – saw the addition ofultrawide support, private PVE lobbies, and a sparring arena for the Batte Barge.Additionally, there was a big patch which focused on adjusting Veteran campaign difficulty, PVP spawns, and enemy rebalancing, particularly for the Thousand Sons. It also saw the launch of many Ultramarines-themed cosmetics via the Ultramarines Cosmetic Pack and Ultramarines Champion Pack.
Those that have the Season Pass, either because they bought the Gold or Ultimate Editions of Space Marine 2 or they bought the pass separately, will also get theDark Angels Champion Pack, Cosmetic Pack, and Weapon Skin Pack. Together, these include color schemes, heraldry, one weapon skin, and a unique Champion skin for the Bulwark class representing the Lion’s finest and their successors.
Season Pass owners will get aChampion Pack, Cosmetic Pack, and Weapon Skin pack for another Adeptus Astartes Chapter. Additionally, one other Chapter will get a Champion Pack only. Neither of these Chapters have been revealed but it seems like the Raven Guard might be next thanks to a Raven Guard emblem which can be seen briefly on the Heraldry screen in the Post Launch Overview video, though this could just be a placeholder icon.
A start or end date has not been announced for Season 4, but all players will get these new features for free:
As with Season 3, Season Pass owners will receive a fullChampion Pack, Cosmetic Pack, and Weapon Skin pack set for one Space Marine Chapterand aChampion Pack for anotherin Season 4. Neither of these Chapters have been revealed but the most well-known ones, such as the Blood Angels or Space Wolves, would be likely candidates.© GamesRadar+. Not to be reproduced without permission.
