Wingert’s agent, Epoch Talent, has given a statement to the outlet revealing that the actor can neither confirm nor deny his involvement in Super Mario Bros. Wonder but “he can confirm that he is NOT voicing Mario” - so that puts that theory to rest.
As we said yesterday, the datamined list of actors reportedly on board for the new Super Mario game is yet to be confirmed by Nintendo and doesn’t link every actor to their character. Considering what Epoch Talent has said above, it’s possible that Wingert is part of the project but just isn’t down to voice the Nintendo mascot, leaving fans to continue guessing who the new Mario is.
The original story follows below…
As reported byVGC, an unverified list of voice actors supposedly attached to the latest Super Mario game has been sharedonline. The list doesn’t link all of the actors to their suspected characters but fans have come to theconclusionthat Mick Wingert is the latest actor to bring both Mario and Luigi to life - mostly because everyone else on the list is either a woman, playing a character they’ve played before, or are suspected to be a Talking Flower. The pair’s previous performer, Charles Martinet, announcedhe’d be stepping down from the role after 32 yearsa few months ago.
If you head on over to Wingert’sIMDBpage, Super Mario Bros Wonder obviously isn’t listed as Nintendo has said thatMario’s new voice actor won’t be revealed until the creditsof the new game. In terms of what the rumored new actor is known for, they’ve provided their talents to various animated films, TV shows, and games including Tony Stark in Marvel’s What If…?, Heimerdinger in Netflix’s Arcane, and Stanley McMillan inStarfield.

It’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now, especially since we don’t have to wait long until we can find out for ourselves. It’ll be interesting to see who is the new voice for Mario and Luigi, and what this means for their good friends Wario and Waluigi too (especially sinceWarioWare: Move Itis also right around the corner) as Martinet was also behind the two characters as well.

After studying Film Studies and Creative Writing at university, I was lucky enough to land a job as an intern at Player Two PR where I helped to release a number of indie titles. I then got even luckier when I became a Trainee News Writer at GamesRadar+ before being promoted to a fully-fledged News Writer after a year and a half of training. My expertise lies in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, cozy indies, and The Last of Us, but especially in the Kingdom Hearts series. I’m also known to write about the odd Korean drama for the Entertainment team every now and then.
